D.R. writes all kinds of things. Mostly, they have strange and unusual elements. Not strange isotopes or Strontium or anything like that, but creatures who are people or people who are creatures. Beware of the Attack Poetry and rampant puns. Keep off the grass, or the song parodies may bite.
She lives with her husband, daughter, and dog in the Ocean State, which she loves to remind people is not an island and not Long Island. D.R. is well aware that her home state has both of those things, but isn't defined by them. Maybe she likes it here so much because it reminds her that she's also more than the sum of her parts.
D.R. hopes you have as much fun reading her books as she did writing them.

I just released book 4 in the Providence Paranormal College series. That's called Dragon My Heart Around.

Why do you think people would want to read it? What is its most
compelling quality?
It's got all the feels. So much happens, too, just over the course of a couple of days. While writing and editing, I laughed, cried, held my breath. That's what I want for the readers.

3. Who is your favorite character that you’ve written and why?

4. What is the hardest thing you have to do when you create a character and what’s the easiest?
The hardest thing is pinning down exactly what they look like. I have an idea, but it's usually overshadowed by how the characters feel.

6. What is the one book that changed the way you write?
It's not a novel, it's a game. Vampire the Masquerade and everything that came after it. World of Darkness LARPs gave me a ton of writing practice. Once I ran one for a year, I understood that I could be writing novels.

8. What is one item on your Bucket List that you haven't completed yet?
There's only one thing on it, actually. That's making an actual living by writing.
9. If you could spend one week anywhere in the world, where would you go?

10. What is your most prized possession?
These are odd questions to think about for me. There was a point where I didn't have a real place to live. I lost just about every item I cared about. Since then, I've decided it's unwise to prize any item. The things I most value aren't possessions. I don't think I'd love them so much if they were.

Go ahead and publish indie. I had a stack of manuscripts and didn't know what to do with them. That one came from The Otter King himself, R.R. Virdi. He got that wisdom at a workshop and generously shared it. Thanks, Mr. Virdi!
12. What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to write but doesn't know where to start?
Don't worry about where. Just write something. Just writing something eventually turns into being able to write just about anything if you keep at it.
